Shaded Pit Stop
I nudged a smooth grey river pebble into the dark soil beneath a giant hosta leaf and tested it with my glove. Perfect backrest. Leaning against the cool stone, I stretched my legs out and let my plush seams finally relax after that wild scooter ride. Midday sun hit the broad leaf above, filtering down like a translucent green canopy and casting soft emerald shadows all over the dirt border. From down here at ground level, the courtyard breeze felt twice as refreshing. Even a speed demon needs a solid breather once in a while.
