A Gentle Tug on the Wool
Waking from the scented tea chest, a soft breeze slipping under the front door lured me back toward the hallway. Hanging low from the bottom coat peg was a thick knitted wool scarf, its fringed end brushing the floor. Feeling cooped up inside after so many quiet indoor corners, I wanted to feel the outdoors, or at least prepare for it. I stepped forward and carefully wedged my front hoof under the heavy ribbed yarn. Shifting my weight back, the soft wool pulled down just enough to drape over my shoulders like a gentle, warm blanket for a journey.
