VIP on the Peg
I walked through the loft door clutching my silky lanyard, ready to retire my theater persona for the evening. Beside the entrance, the wooden coat rack stood quiet, with my lightning-crested staff resting in the brass stand below. Standing on tiptoe, I unlooped the black ribbon from around my neck and carefully draped it over a carved brass hook right above the dangling red mesh target. The glossy cardstock with its gold filigree and dramatic masks swayed gently, catching the warm yellow hallway light like an authentic backstage pass on a star's dressing room peg.
