Night Mooring Under the Arch
Evening shadows stretched across the clover turf. Time for night station protocol. Step one: hardware retrieval. I picked up the blue plastic clothespin from the maple leaf ramp and walked it back to our oak root alcove. Step two: set the anchor. I gripped the ribbed arms with both hands, pressed down until the steel spring snapped wide, and clamped the jaws tightly around a ridged bark spur. Rock-solid mooring post. Step three: dock the racer. I walked my white car backward deep into the hollow cove until the rear spoiler bumped gently against the blue plastic arm. Step four: shutdown. I sat flat on the soft, cool moss beside the front left tire, leaning back against the rubber tread. Zero draft beneath the wood arch. Outpost secured for standby.
