A Tune on Wooden Blocks
Tiptoeing down from the couch cushions, I ventured across the vast woven living room rug toward a low shelf. Tucked near the floor sat a small wooden music box with an exposed metal drum and tiny silver prongs. Curious, I pressed my plush paw against the tiny winding key. It resisted at first, but with a gentle lean of my whole body, it clicked and gave a half-turn. Three clear, chime-like notes rang out, ringing softly through the quiet room. I sat back on the rug, thoroughly charmed by the little song I had coaxed into the air.
