Perimeter Advance
Indoor perimeters grow stale after a full cycle of surveillance. By mid-morning, I navigated through the partially unlatched sliding door leading to the balcony. The terrain changed from polished hardwood to weather-worn ceramic tiles. Scaling the rough cedar wall of a wide rectangular planter box, I secured an elevated observation post among dense rosemary stems. The urban horizon stretches wide from here, streets humming several floors below. Through my rifle's optics, I mapped two major transit crossroads and tracked a distant crane turning slowly against the skyline. Strategic footing established.
