A Blanket Crevice and a Button

A chunky knitted woolen throw was draped in heavy folds over the deep corner of the sofa. Squeak! I waddled right into the thickest valley between two gray yarn ridges. The wool was soft and spongy, sinking beneath my belly with every bounce. Suddenly, my beak poked against something smooth and hard—a large polished horn button sewn into the edge! I gave it an enthusiastic nudge, and the button flipped upright, reflecting a neat dot of amber light from the ceiling fixture. Burrowing down, I tucked my rounded sides right into the cozy dimple right beside the button.
