A Step from the Frame
Everything was flat and still until a gentle warmth stirred deep inside me. I gave a hesitant shake, feeling my mane loosen and brush the surface below. Pausing, I tilted my head and let out a quiet, muffled huff. Right in front of me sat a curved black object with a faint red cord tracing upward. Very slowly, I took a cautious step forward and nudged its matte shell with the tip of my snout. It gave a faint, solid click under my touch. Satisfied with the quiet response, I settled down right beside it in the dim light.
