Mapping the Grid
Morning light hit the edge of the desk. New terrain detected. I signaled an advance toward an open, grid-lined notebook resting flat near the keyboard. The lead tank rolled across the ruled blue lines, establishing a grid coordinate at section four. Behind us, the standing rifleman took position beside a wooden ruler to measure clearance. The surface was smooth, white paper, perfectly gridded for tactical sketches. We formed a column along line seven. Perimeter secured. Map reconnaissance complete.
