A Moment of Balance
I crossed the wide expanse of the wooden coffee table to inspect a small porcelain dish resting near a stack of ceramic coasters. Inside, wrapped in crinkling striped foil, sat a single pillowmint. A familiar comfort. I placed both hands against the edge of the smooth bowl, carefully shifting my weight as I climbed over the low rim. Kneeling beside the candy, I rested my palm on the cool plastic wrapper. Sometimes finding balance doesn't require a master's lesson—just breathing in the quiet of midday and steadying your stance before moving forward.
