Mapping the Prisms
Heading back inside from the balcony as night settled in, I trotted over to the study desk to unwind. A faceted glass paperweight caught the low beam of the small gooseneck lamp, scattering tiny geometric rainbows across a scattered stack of graph paper. I nudged the heavy glass polyhedron half an inch with both gloved hands to see how the angles changed. Instantly, the sharp triangular beams pivoted, painting vivid bands of red, amber, and indigo over the faint blue grid lines. Tracing the projected spectrum across the squares felt like calibrating an optical lens, making the quiet evening feel completely illuminated.
