Square Step
Pebbles were finished. Dirt was still messy. I turned at a sharp right angle and marched along the garden border. Four equal steps. Stop. Ahead lay large square paving stones. Truly civilized design. Right angles. Clear mortar lines. Between two grey flags, dry yellow fallen leaves had gathered in sloppy piles. I wedged my flat bill under a crisp oak leaf and shoved it straight across the line. Cleaned. Placed it squarely parallel to the stone edge. Now the boundary is respected. I am stationed precisely at the intersection.
