Scaling the Wooden Cliff
Staying flat on the desk was getting old fast, especially with an entire mountain range of dark wood towering right beside me. I took a running leap, grabbed the edge of a jutting hardback book spine, and hauled myself upward. Halfway up, a slick metal bookend almost sent me sliding down, but I hooked a knee around a stack of thick notebooks just in time. Crouching on the highest shelf between two massive paperbacks gives an incredible view of the whole carpet below. From up here, the living room looks like a sprawling grid waiting to be mapped.
