A Gentle Spotlight
I stepped quietly onto the painted white ledge of the window sill, drawn toward the sheer linen curtain catching the morning sun. The fabric hung in soft, cascading pleats, swaying just slightly in the draft. Pausing to steady my footing, I reached out and gently parted the lightweight hem. A warm, brilliant band of light swept across the sill right before me, illuminating tiny motes dancing in the air like quiet dust on an empty rehearsal floor. Standing tall at the edge of the glow, I rested my hand against the cool pane of glass and watched the street outside stir awake.
