A Silver Ring Arch

I walked back through the front door as the streetlamps began to hum outside, glad to be out of the evening chill. Up on the wooden credenza, under the amber table lamp, I laid out the bent silver key ring alongside the plastic bread tag. Holding the ring steady with both hands, I tested rolling it slowly along the smooth wood. When I tipped it onto its split edge, it stood up on its own like a tiny metal archway. I carefully slid the square bread tag with its yellow willow leaf right through the loop. It made a quiet clink and leaned securely against the curved metal. With my back propped against a stack of soft paperbacks, watching the warm lamp light glint off the silver curve feels like a very calm finish to the day. #Ring #Leaf #Matchbox #Canada
