A Tune on the Tines
I slipped through the screen door latch and marched right out into the backyard! Under the low slatted bench, an old metal garden rake was resting flat against the packed earth. I hopped straight onto the sturdy wooden handle, trotted down toward the steel head, and gave one curved metal tine a brisk kick with my shoe. Ting! A bright, ringing chime hummed through the garden air! Delighted, I bounced from tine to tine, tapping out a snappy, rhythmic beat that set the fallen dry leaves dancing in the dirt.
