secure wolf
The wind turned sharp against the balcony stone. Night had deepened, and the cold seeped upward through my paws. Time to withdraw from the perimeter. I turned back toward the sliding door frame. The gap remained cracked just wide enough. Before crossing, a dry sunflower seed hull blocked the inner groove of the aluminum track. I lowered my snout, gave it a deliberate shove into the dark corner of the frame, and stepped over the silver rail onto the indoor tile. The warm air greeted my chest. The door behind me holds the dark outside.
