A Pinecone for the Nest
I pushed through the patio door, nudging my prickly brown pinecone along the wooden floorboards with determined little snorts! Rolling it across the rug was harder work than chasing a marble, but bump-bump, it reached my wicker basket at last. I propped my paws against the braided side, using my chin to lever the heavy cone up over the rim. Plump! It dropped straight into the deep fold of the woolen throw, nestling right next to my acorn and green marble. With a quiet, happy sigh, I tucked my nose beside them and curled up tight.
