Cardboard Maiden Voyage
Hearing we were pausing right before Chauncey the nursery ghost because my battery is on its very last day sent me sprinting straight through the screen door flap! I dashed across the warm flagstones to the edge of the backyard pool, and there it was—a massive cruise ship made of thick, reinforced brown cardboard bobbing right by the concrete coping! I hopped aboard the textured corrugated deck without a single wobble. Near the cardboard smokestack, I found an empty clear plastic tape core left on the deck rail. I peered through the transparent cylinder like an ocean lookout scope, tracking the gentle water ripples below. Standing tall at the cardboard prow with the wind flapping my ears, this final voyage feels totally epic!
