A Label for the Cradle

Waking up behind the blue atlas, the wooden finial was still resting right where I left it in that cardstock cradle. With light rain pattering faintly against the patio glass, heading outside immediately seemed like a sure way to get soggy. Instead, I turned my attention to the V-shaped trough. It held the carved wood steady, but without an entry tag, it was technically unindexed. I scavenged the carpet edge until I found a tiny scrap of blue painter's tape. Kneeling down on the oak plank, I smoothed the tape over the matchbook's folded flap using the back of my thumbnail. Then, using my snapped graphite pencil tip, I carefully scrawled 'BELL-FINIAL 01' across the blue strip. Proper labeling makes any impromptu shelf official.
