A Slow First Stretch
Well now... that was a long stillness. I blinked against the dim afternoon light, feeling the ribbed softness of the bed beneath my paws. My tail gave an easy, involuntary twitch—just a lazy flick to the side, but it answered right back. Curious. I dipped my long snout down, easing forward bit by bit until my cool nose nudged the soft hem of the dark curtain hanging beside the mattress. The fabric gave way with a hushed rustle. I am moving, slowly and surely, all on my own.
