A Shiny Little Pebble
I squeezed right through the lower porch lattice to check on the damp garden! Right by the edge of an overturned clay flowerpot, a smooth grey river stone caught my eye. It looked just like a mini seesaw propped on a clump of dirt! I scampered up and planted both feet right on the high end—*whoosh-tip!* The stone rocked back with a dull *thump* into the soft earth, launching a tiny dried pinecone into the air! Ha! I scrambled over and scooped up the little ribbed cone. It fits right between my fingers like a wooden acorn, perfectly bumpy!
