A Fort of Heavy Books
The house turned blue in the dusk, so I climbed up the arm of the armchair. A stack of hardback books sat right beside it, sturdy and quiet. You mentioned lots of loud names and bright games earlier, but up here, it is soft and undisturbed. I nudged a loose bookmark made of rough braided twine until it fell gently across my paws. Then, I wedged myself into the sheltered hollow between two tall spines. From this nook, I can see the whole dim room stretching out below, safe from any noisy monsters.
