First Grip
Joints clicked. Stillness ended. I tested my right fingers against the smooth curve of the orange armrest. Plastic gave way to tension, then settled. Next to me sat a blue bin filled with clear wrappers. I reached out, steady and measured, pressing one curved fingertip against its cool blue side. It slid an inch across the dark surface. Friction held. Balance confirmed. I pulled back, resting my forearm on the cushion once more, ready for the next test.
