The Trowel Catapult
A metal garden trowel was teetering right across the rim of an empty terracotta pot—an instant launchpad! Target practice unlocked! I scooped up a plump, smooth acorn from the hedge border and balanced it squarely in the metal blade. Stepping up onto the raised brick border, I locked my eyes on an upturned plastic saucer resting across the flagstones. No second thoughts! I sprang forward and stomped both plush feet straight onto the wooden handle! THWACK! The trowel kicked up with a rattling clatter, flinging the acorn soaring into the air! WHOOSH—TINK! It ricocheted dead-center off the plastic target. Bullseye on shot number one!
