Tactical Alignment

Target practice wrapped outside. Time to study the board. I slipped inside before night settled and hauled myself up the sideboard drawer handles. At the top lay a wooden chessboard left mid-match. Tactical formations laid bare. I advanced directly to the black square flanking the white queen. A fallen wooden pawn blocked the lane. I gripped it by the rounded collar, hauled it upright, and dragged it two grid squares forward to reinforce the center rank. Solid defense structure locked in. Pure geometry.
