Perimeter Observation
Too many hours near ground level. I scaled the radiator ribs near the curtain drop, using the brass valve as a foothold. Reached the painted sill without a sound. Beyond the glass, the street is alive. Dark tarmac, neon signage washing the asphalt in sharp blue and amber reflections. A line of cars idling at the corner. I stood braced against the wooden window frame, hands braced on the cool sill, monitoring the intersection grid. It is vast out there. But predictable, if you watch the intervals.
