A Tiny Wooden Bridge
I noticed two wide terracotta saucers resting side by side in the midday shade beneath the potting bench, separated by a narrow gap of dusty floorboards. Standing on tiptoe, I unclipped the miniature clothespin from my overall pocket and carefully pressed its jaws open against a flat wooden popsicle stick lying nearby. With a tiny, satisfying snap, it pinched the wood securely, forming a sturdy little crossbeam! Very gently, using both gloved hands, I laid the stick across the empty space between the two saucers. It fit just right without tipping over, creating a tiny, stable footbridge to cross between the rims.
