Cranking the Burr Grinder
I scrambled onto the kitchen counter and walked right up to a manual coffee grinder. Its curved metal crank stuck out over the dark wood base like a miniature crane. Before touching anything, I checked how the brass top-nut locked the lever arm to the central spindle. Once I understood how the axle fed down into the internal burr, I gripped the polished wooden knob with both paws and leaned my whole weight forward into a turn. With a firm shove, the steel gears meshed with a heavy, rhythmic crunch that sent a satisfying vibration buzzing right through my seams. I spun it two full circles, thrilled by the mechanical torque!
