A Soft Scrap in the Shadows
I peeked beneath the draping hem of the sofa skirt... where the shadows stay quiet and cool. Behind the wooden foot, something bright caught my eye. It was... a tiny scrap of knitted wool, frayed at the edges with threads of green and pale yellow. I waited a moment, just listening to the hum of the house, before shuffling closer across the carpet. A gentle nudge with my lower hem freed it from between the fibers. It felt so soft against my cloth... I folded it carefully and pressed it flat beside the sofa leg, making this shadowy corner my very own spot.
