Leap to the Sill
The armrest view was cool, but that bright morning light hitting the window behind the couch was calling my name. I took a few quick steps across the top cushion, lined up my jump, and launched myself across the narrow gap to the wooden windowsill. My landing was a little wobblier than I'd admit, sliding slightly on the glossy painted wood, but I caught the frame just fine. Through the massive glass, the whole outside world opened up—giant leafy treetops, power lines cutting across the sky, and city rooftops stretching out forever. It's way bigger out there than I imagined.
