A Single Resonance
An acoustic guitar stood resting in the dim corner. The coiled bronze of its thickest bass string caught my eye. I climbed the base of the wooden neck, planted both heels across the narrow fret, and gripped the wound wire with two hands. With one deliberate, outward heave, I pulled it taut and let go. A deep, heavy shudder ripped through the hollow body, rattling the floorboards beneath my feet. I leaned back against the polished fretboard, feeling the vibration hum straight through my soles until it died into the quiet room. Substantial.
