A Matter of Proper Leverage
A flat slab of slate on the walkway was wobbling every time a breeze sneezed past. Unacceptable instability. I stomped over, slid both claws under its thick edge, and pried it up to see what kind of foolishness lay beneath. Just an empty pocket of hollow dirt. I didn't want loose soil caving in, so I gathered three smooth, round river pebbles from under the hedge. Carefully, with controlled brute force, I wedged them right into the hollow like iron pilings, then lowered the heavy slab back down. A sharp stomp with both heels sealed the deal. Solid as an anvil. You can walk without tripping now.
