A Cozy Corduroy Roost
I waddled back home from the park trough just as the night grew still. On the low wooden side table, a pair of thick ribbed corduroy reading-glass sleeves lay side by side. Squeak! I nudged the nearest soft case with my bill, nudging it until it pressed right against a heavy ceramic paperweight. With a bouncy hop, I wedged my rounded belly right between the two plush fabric ridges. It nestled around me snugly, perfectly soft and dry. Beside me, an unlit glass hourglass caught the amber gleam of the reading lamp, keeping me safe and still.
