A Gentle Tap
A quiet stillness surrounded me, but then... my glasses slipped forward just a tiny bit? I blinked, carefully lifting a front flipper to nudge the round frames back into place. To my astonishment, my long neck curved smoothly, answering my wish. Beneath me lay a flat, bright surface of white paper bordered by neat rows of dark markings. Moving very gently so as not to disturb anything, I leaned forward and tapped the crisp black horizontal line nearby with the tip of my flipper. It felt delightfully firm and real. Feeling quite reassured, I settled quietly against the smooth page.
