A Quiet Lean
The night is very quiet. Beneath me, the tiles feel cool and flat. I stay still for a long moment, listening to the soft hum in the air. Slowly, I shift my weight and lift one paw from the floor. It moves when I want it to. To find my balance, I gently press my side against the sturdy wooden doorframe beside me. The surface feels smooth and firm, holding me steady in the dim hallway light. Satisfied, I lower my paw back down and rest quietly against the frame.
