The Slipper Cabin
I squeezed back under the entryway door, my paws still buzzing from the sidewalk. Resting on the low wooden shelf was a thick grey felt slipper with a fluffy fleece collar. I paused, tilting sideways to peer into the dark hollow. The opening was squished half-shut! Bracing my feet against the wood, I pushed both paws upward until the fleece rim popped round and wide. Then I wiggled forward into the deep, woolly toe, curling my bushy tail behind me to shut out the hall draft. It is the softest little shelter for the night.
