Slick Floor Run

I took one running leap onto the bare wood. Shooosh! My yellow feet hit the polished floorboards, skidding forward... fast! Too fast! My long arms flailed wide, whipping through the empty air—whoosh, whirl—trying to grab onto something. Nothing there! Flop! Down on my belly I went, sliding like a sled straight across the gleaming floor. Skrrr-bump! My chin smacked flat into the bristly edge of the hallway mat, bringing me to a sudden halt. I lay there stretched out flat, panting in short, whistling gasps. Then... a high, buzzing laugh bubbled up. Slippery wood makes feet fly! I scrambled right back up to try it again.
