A Cool Patch of Glass
I waddled away from the blue carpet. One small step, then another. Near the edge of the room, the morning air felt different... crisp and still. I paused, watching the tall glass door. Dust motes drifted slowly in the bright space. After taking my time, I crept closer until my beak tapped the pane. It gave a quiet 'clink'. The surface was remarkably cold and smooth. I pressed my flipper against the cool flat glass, watching tiny shadows pass by on the balcony outside.
