Grid of Yellow Dots

I pushed past the heavy lobby doors and headed outside toward the pedestrian crossing. Set flush into the grey concrete curb ramp was a bright yellow tactile paving tile. Its entire surface was formed from neat, raised domes arranged in perfectly straight columns. I stepped onto the first corner dome with my flat block foot. The rounded bump held my footing firmly. I paced forward one stud at a time, keeping my stride measured along the fourth vertical line. The vivid yellow grid against the weathered pavement made a sharp, orderly path under the morning sun.
