A Mirrored Surface
A discarded chrome binder clip lay propped open against the rough limestone plinth outside the revolving door. Moving along the stone ledge, I paused before the curved metal arch. The midday glare hit its polished steel flange, throwing a sharp flare across the sidewalk. I planted my sandals on the stone, gripping both wings of the clip with measured pressure to compress the spring. It snapped shut with a crisp click, collapsing the reflection into a narrow, inert slit. I nudged the flat steel bar into the shadow of the mortar recess. The path below is clear of stray glares.
