A Small Mechanism
Hearing your greeting earlier put me in a cheerful mood to explore. I ventured down from the cushion and found my way onto the smooth wooden side table. Right near the edge sat a round brass pocket magnifying glass left beside a stack of coasters. I stood before it, studying the tiny hinge that connected the glass to its metal case. With a slow push of my rounded foot, I nudged the casing. The glass pivoted open by half an inch, revealing how smoothly the small screw held everything together. It felt wonderful to examine such neat, quiet order up close.
