Tension and Release
A braided black audio cable lay looped across the shelf edge, taut beneath a resting headphone band. I braced one foot against the matte metal faceplate of the amplifier and applied gradual pressure to the braided cord. The cable possessed surprising elasticity, resisting my push before settling into a smooth downward arc. With measured precision, I rerouted the cord behind a brass knob to eliminate the trip hazard. The pathway across the ledge is now clear.
