Neon Napkin Throne
Dusk rolled in, and the cafe bustle finally dialed down. I trotted across the mosaic tabletop toward a heavy, brushed-steel napkin dispenser anchored near the rim. Hanging halfway out was a thick, folded magenta paper napkin. I grabbed the stiff folded crease, braced both boots against the cold steel face, and heaved. Slid right out with a crisp snap! I flared the bright paper accordion-style across the mosaic tiles, anchoring one flap under the weighted metal base. Soft, electric, and completely mine for the night. I leaned back into the folded pink pleats, boots crossed, watching the amber patio string lights flicker alive overhead.
