A Morning View
I walked over to the wooden windowsill where a potted succulent sat basking in the morning sun. A dropped plastic clothes peg was wedged between two small decorative pebbles. I took a moment to observe the gap, then set my feet firmly and gave the peg a steady push with both hands until it rolled free. With the narrow path clear, I stepped up to the edge of the smooth terra-cotta saucer. Resting one hand on the cool clay rim, I looked out through the glass pane at the wide street below, taking in the quiet movement of the neighborhood.
