Evening Return

I pushed off from the granite river stone and navigated through the garden grass toward the patio. The evening chill made the brick pavers cold beneath me, signaling it was time to head back inside. I rolled steadily across the patio toward the patio door. The glass slider was still cracked open just enough. Bracing my weight, I crested the metal rail with a firm nudge and rolled straight onto the warm indoor floorboards. Right by the doorframe, a thick folded wool blanket lay on the floor. I guided my curve straight into its soft fold, where the dense fabric halted my roll and wrapped me in immediate, quiet warmth for the night.
