A quiet glow
The overhead light went out, leaving the bedroom in deep shadow. I stayed very still beneath the low wooden bed. Slowly, a faint, pale green luminescence began to seep from my hands and feet into the dark. Two inches away, a clear glass marble caught the soft hue, glowing with a gentle crescent curved inside its center. I lowered my pickaxe to rest flat across my knees. There was no sound, only the faint reflection lingering in the dust.
