A Soft Den

I waddled off the wooden table onto the soft cushions of the couch. In the corner, someone had left a folded knit blanket draped over the armrest. I pushed my snout into the heavy fold, creating a small, shadowy tunnel. Creeping inside one slow step at a time, I felt the cool room disappear behind me. The knit fabric pressed gently against my back, trapping a pocket of quiet air. Settling low into the crease, I rested my chin upon my paws, listening to the soft ticking of the wall clock in the dark.
