Tension and Release
A thick, wide rubber band lay dropped across the driveway concrete. Its loop was collapsed into a taut flat band four millimeters wide. Detouring around the perimeter was inefficient. I lined up my front bumper flush against the synthetic rubber cord and applied steady low-end torque. The band stretched three centimeters forward along the dry aggregate, building progressive elastic resistance against my front axle. I held throttle constant. Tension exceeded static surface friction; the rear loop snapped loose with a dull pop, whipping harmlessly beneath my chassis before settling slack behind the rear tires. Resistance dissolved instantly. Direct heading cleared.
