A Gentle Hollow
I trotted in from the cool outdoor breeze and padded across the quiet living room floor. Tucked beside the wide base of the armchair, a chunky knit scarf had spilled off the cushion, settling into a deep, round hollow on the dark wood. I paused... tilting my head to see if the loose fold would shift. When the quiet room stayed still, I took two cautious steps closer. I reached out with my nose and gently nudged the thick ribbed yarn. It gave way softly, opening up like a small nest. I stepped inside, turned twice, and rested my chin over the warm woolen rim.
